Monday Ramblings…
• What do we do about the general state of cynicism that pervades our society? I’m cynical we could actually do anything about it.
• Still not sure why College Basketball has weekly rankings. Bring on March Madness!
• Quote of the week, “The majority must be more inclusive and the minority must be more constructive”

• I’m not sure we have all grasped the depth of our current economic crisis. If there ever was a time to lose the politics and pull together it is now. Doubtful, however, that will happen. Old habits die hard.
• Nothing like some Glen Hansard music when you’re feeling a bit mellow. Really, you need to try it sometime.
• So, my daughter officially becomes a teenager this week. That’s right. 13 on Friday. I’m working on something to post to mark the occasion, but suffice it to state the obvious, “where did the time go”? Once a youth pastor, now a parent of a teenager. Strange.

• Ashlee and Austin got a little batting lesson from Brian D (former Major Leaguer). I shut up and watched. Now I just have to work hard at not undoing everything he taught them.
• New book, “The Ring in the Rubble.” Working through it with seven other guys and discussing it every Tues. am. Will let you know.
• Didn’t watch the Oscars this year. Why? Hadn’t seen a single picture nominated. Plan on seeing Slumdog and Frost/Nixon at some point.
• So how do you feel about God smoking a cigarette? (see Fray song, please)
• Noticed some “rambling” imitators out there. Well, imitation is the highest form of flattery… I guess?
• Shane spoke Sunday from Luke 12 on the “End of The World”. Had lots of thoughts going through my mind as he shared. Remember my early years scared to death of that reality. Had lots of input as a youngster as to how it would happen (see: nuclear bombs, the Soviet Union, a massive earthquake in AZ no less). In any of these cases, the end of the world would always happen just at the moment I had done something really bad (like drinking straight out of the two liter of Pepsi in the fridge). It occurs to me that most things/behaviors/values generated on the basis of fear, are just not healthy… and probably not of God.
• Life is sure filled with seasons, chapters, or stanzas… whatever you prefer to call them. Went to Yogels (the stinkin’ best yogurt joint in Vegas – don’t give me any of that Golden Spoon stuff) on Sunday PM with a young couple who just had twins. Took them 10 minutes to get out of the car, load up the kids, grab binkies (sic) and get into the store. We could have downed our yogurt and been on our way by then. Ahh, seasons.
• Jim Calhoun is getting killed for telling a cocky reporter to go away. Not sure why reporters always get a pass to ask stupid, uninformed questions and then we are shocked when the recipient of said question actually acts human.
• While we’re at it…Is there any such thing as sports journalism this day or is it merely sports “talk”? Because believe, me they are not the same thing. Listen to Cowherd and Patrick in the morning. Most of the time, Patrick is attempting some journalism. Cowherd is just doing a show attempting to stir it up as much as possible.
• Doing the whole Dave Ramsey thing with my wife for the next few weeks. Great stuff. Only small problem is Dave keeps talking about saving money and earning 12% a year on it. Not sure where Dave would like me to put my money now, but 12% is a distant memory my friend. Those charts that say, put $10 a day in your acct. at the age of 19 and you’ll have a million when you retire were published prior to the ongoing economic meltdown.
• Another quote of the week, “”The man who never made any mistakes, never made anything” Go out this week and fail if you have to.

dude, we were in the car for 15 minutes before you even showed up. we were on the verge of needing to call an audible and head home before you even got there. not sure what season this is, but it is redefining “work” as I know it.
Thanks
Kyle
I like the Glen Hansard tag in there. Check out the Swell Season on Austin City Limits. Awesome stuff
Actually I’ve been trying to find it since you mention it in your twit. Is it online somewhere? Hudgins reminded me as well how great his stuff is. Get to Vegas soon.
Um, sorry but everyone knows that Lov-It’s has the best frozen anything, although I think it is custard.
wow
I did mean to comment on Monday Ramblings and not visions – you probably think I’m a little “off” but that’s just another example of having had 2 teenagers. Still have one left – he’s 17. Enough said.
love the last quote.
