So many of you know how much of a LifeHouse fan I am. Today we integrated their “Broken” tune into all of our morning gatherings. It really brought some poignancy to the moment and our band plus Ryan M. hit it out of the park.
The whole week gap before the Super Bowl is a killer. And I am REALLY going to miss football after next Sunday. And no, the Pro Bowl is not football.
Saw Gran Torino on Saturday afternoon. Intense and moving. The movie gives a rough glimpse into interracial relationships or lack thereof. Full of redemption and tough moments, I would recommend it. The R rating is well deserved so keep that in mind. Probably not a date movie.
My kid is a yo-yo maniac. Playstation just is not enough. He basically yo-yo’d through the church today, up the aisle, during worship. Is there anything about no yo-yo’s in church. Not sure, but he thinks it makes it much more interesting.
Saturday was the first time the Coate’s split up at the movies. Headed to the Rave @ Town Square (great theater) and then the two younger Coate’s headed to InkHeart, TLC headed to Revolutionary Road (which she said was a completely downer and waste of time – doesn’t get the hype) while I did the Torino.
Ordered some books from Amazon two weeks ago. Made the mistake of shipping ground. I believe they are currently on a stage coach somewhere outside of Des Moines.
Prepping to speak next Sunday from Luke 8. May tackle quite a bit of the chapter unwrapping some thoughts on the attributes of dirt and how that leads to our faith response. You gotta look at the chapter for it all to make sense.
Three weeks — finally had my first drop (actually flying slip) of my Iphone. It survived unscathed. I am still obsessing on keeping the screen clean constantly. Booked an airline ticket on it yesterday. Amazing!
I have gotten some feedback on my “ramblings” formatting. Trying to make some adjustments to make it more readable. Let me know what you think.
Super Bowl Pick… My heart says Cardinals. My head says Steelers. That said, I’m sticking with the Cardinals… I owe them to stay loyal to the end (some of you know what I why).
My AZ Wildcats made a strong comeback on Saturday after Budinger took a foot to the face. Nothing like a kick in the head to get a team going.
My other team the Rebels have started to pick up steam… they will be peaking at just the right time come March Madness.
Just picked up a new book… “Creating Magic” written by the former VP at Walt Disney World. Should be a good read as it unwraps leadership principle taught at the renowned Disney Institute. First point, “as the leader, you are ALWAYS responsible for the outcome.” Should be a good read, I’ll keep you updated.
People… if you are still avoiding Twitter. Stop.
My buddy Dave Huwe agreed to tell his very personal story as we tried to get our minds around the theme of doubt this weekend. I included a webversion of his video here. Hope it speaks to you as it did me and the others @ The Crossing.
LOVED the video this morning! I’ve always considered myself to be a diehard dedicated Christian, but that doesn’t exempt me from being doubtful. When my baby was in the NICU for 7 weeks I had doubt daily. My foot dangled over the threshold of being ‘mad’ at God and I hated that just as much as I couldn’t stand my baby being in such a critical condition. Like Dave, God uses ALL for His glory. I’m a much much much better person because of that situation. I’m thankful for His mercy and grace in my life.
So now facebook is going to allow you to update your status by mobile and check others status by mobile, will twitter be dead? After all, aren’t we all just twittering to update our facebook and send mass text messages?

It would be nice for Twitter to die before I get there. I will feel relieved not to have missed much.
Powerful stuff from Dave. So appreciated him sharing.
Although Lee, why do he and I both look like hell in our videos? Must be the camera. Right? Not extreme exhaustion.
I’m afraid the camera doesn’t lie…
you guys have some cool stuff going on! I wish I could have seen everything live. I love me some lifehouse.
