Penn speaks about his “proselytizing” encounter

Ran across this intriguing video from a couple sources.  Interesting perspective from Penn, a professing atheist.  Listen closely.

  1. I saw Penn and Teller at Starbucks about 6 months ago and, knowing Penn is an atheist, thought about introducing myself and inviting them to the church (they live a few blocks from our church). Instead, I rationalized it away thinking surely they would think it was simply an attempt to meet the stars or some other craziness. Now I feel like a moron.

  2. That was a great post! Man, if Penn could encounter more people like that business man, who knows?? Imagine – proselytizing without antagonizing! Now that is a novel thought! Real people – Christ followers, looking people in the eyes, genuinely caring about them, and letting them know that they really do care (love), and then leaving the rest up to the Holy Spirit. Penn, giving his life to Christ won’t be a ploy to disprove Atheism, or to put a notch in some Christ followers belt, & bring a win to fundamentalists, but it will be a direct result of God doing a miracle, revealing Himself in a unique way that will move Penn to believe in his true creator, and ultimately to launch him into an awesome relationship with his true Father. Atheist’s are men and women that have deep convictions, and beliefs, and when God shows up – Damascus Road baby!!! Jesus has a unique way of showing-up and transforming & adopting some of the most faith-filled atheists I know. Sometimes I wonder if a lot of Christians aren’t “Practical Atheists?” Just a thought!!!

    Merry Christmas – Santa!!!:)

    • Hirsch – I agree. See Penn all the time at Warm Springs/Rainbow Starbucks. You buy me coffee and we’ll wait for Penn to make an appearance. Seriously – It is transformational to see someone living out their faith, being bold, and yet exhibiting a healthy, kingdom perspective.
