A Great Rant
I have been part of numerous conversations over the past few years attempting to dissect what is wrong, flawed, unbiblical, etc. with the current church especially the “western” church. At times I fully engage and at others… I merely just get fatigued. In any case, Perry Noble from NewSpring Church in South Carolina decided he has had enough. See his rant below.
Do you think Perry has lost his mind? Agree? Ready to pull up to the dining room table and have church?
My only comment to Perry would be, “Where have you been?”. People have been saying that for years. Rant about something new.
In any case, it is good to hear a response to the post-church crowd.
as i read this, my response was similar to JD’s, i thought i was missing something perhaps, because he talked about this as if it was a new argument. I actually thought it was an argument that has long since died out (not the house church movement, but using China as the incentive to do so). I believe he is right in that we want the benefit without the price. the great irony is that using this argument for the house church is pitted against the consumeristic church, yet it is driven by a desire to consume the value of community, without the cost of the suffering Jesus.
